Cyber Crime in India: Challenges and prospect

Abstract: There has always been a need for advancement and inspiration since the beginning of human civilization. This has led to incredible development and progress. Information technology is the most significant development in human history. It has tremendous informative and communication power. Information technology, in its broadest sense, refers to this technology that is related to computer systems, their hardware, software, networks, the internet, and the myriad applications that operate over them. Cyberspace is the name of the virtual medium used for this communication. A new phase of the information revolution is ushered in by the advancement of information technology. Via which large-scale information interchange has become possible. The way of life of humans has undergone significant transformation. The majority of human endeavors rely on information technology, to the point where it is difficult to imagine a world without it. Almost every activity involving humans has been impacted by information technology. One of the main issues with information technology is its misuse by antisocial elements. Computers, computer networks, and computer systems offer new, advanced tools for committing conventional crimes. As a result, networks and computers can be used as instruments or as targets for crime. This kind of information-related and telecommunication-related crime has been more prevalent since the advent of computers, computer networks, and the information technology revolution. Cybercrimes and the fallout from them are growing in tandem with the exponential growth in technology dependence. Since their creation, computers have been used for criminal activity. Every effort has two aspects: positive and negative, according to social norms. It is also appropriate to information technology to follow this rule. Because of the misuse of technology, this reliance on information technology has significant drawbacks in addition to its benefits, such as making life easier. Cybercrime is viewed as the outcome. As a result, regulations governing human behavior in cyberspace are necessary. No nation can overlook its terrible effects. However, no significant platform has been developed by all of the nations. Given that cybercrime represents a dark chapter in the history of the digital revolution; it poses a severe threat to civic society. Cybercrimes such as cyber hacking, cyber pornography, cyber defamation, money laundering, and cyber fraud are quite frequent and cause extensive harm.
