Adapting to change: The impact of COVID-19 on migrant laborers in India

Abstract: The current study investigates the repercussions of the COVID-19 epidemic on migrant workers in India, with a specific emphasis on the difficulties they encountered and the necessary measures to ensure their welfare and assimilation into society. This study is significant because it emphasizes the vulnerabilities of migrant workers, who have a crucial impact on several sectors of the economy yet often face exploitation and marginalization. The study's main findings highlight the pressing necessity to reassess labor policies in order to improve safeguards for migrant workers. It emphasizes the importance of increasing their access to social welfare and healthcare to address their vulnerabilities. The study also underscores the vital role played by NGOs and civil society organizations in providing assistance. Furthermore, it emphasizes the significance of adopting a multi-stakeholder approach involving the government, private sector, and civil society to develop long-lasting solutions. In summary, this research emphasizes the need of providing ongoing support and working together to provide a more inclusive setting for migrant workers, guaranteeing their ability to adapt and gain control over their lives in the period after the epidemic.
